The Challenge

A 40-person SaaS company was spending $40,000 per month on AWS with no visibility into where the money was going. Six production outages in the prior year each cost between $15,000 and $80,000 in lost revenue and SLA penalties. The infrastructure was hand-configured through the AWS console with no IaC, making it impossible to reproduce environments or roll back changes safely.

Our Solution

Sciensify performed a full AWS cost and architecture audit before touching anything. We identified $13,800 per month in over-provisioned EC2 instances, idle NAT gateways, orphaned EBS volumes, and unoptimized data transfer costs. We then rebuilt the entire infrastructure with Terraform as the single source of truth, migrated workloads to Amazon EKS with Karpenter for intelligent node provisioning, and deployed a kube-prometheus-stack for metrics collection with Grafana dashboards covering latency per service, pod resource utilization, cluster cost per namespace, and deployment frequency. AWS CloudWatch alarms with PagerDuty routing replaced manual on-call guesswork. Cost anomaly detection rules alert within 15 minutes of unexpected spend spikes. We implemented GitOps with ArgoCD so every infrastructure change goes through a pull request with automated plan preview before it reaches production.
